TOPIC: A PEACEMAKER INDEED
READ: Matthew 5:9
MEMORISE: Blessed are the peace makers, for they shall be called sons of God (Matthew 5:9).
In the Bible, peace has several different meanings (e.g. inner peace, peace with God, and peace with other people). In terms of human beings, peace has to do with a sense of well-being, in all aspects of our lives. It is sometimes described as a feeling of harmony or tranquillity.
When Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers", He was inviting us to an incredibly difficult and challenging process that starts in our hearts. This is an invitation and a mandate for us to be bearers of peace to our communities, our families, our work places, and our world. Peace-making is not a passive action. It is a very intentional action for us to build relationship with one another. Peace-making is a struggle, but we have to embrace it, if we want to have healthy relationships. Christians are called to be peacemakers. God wants us to be at peace with others (Romans 12:18, 14:19, 2 Corinthians 13:11). We have to make the decision to be peacemakers, which actually comes at a cost.
Now, who is a peacemaker? A peacemaker is someone who experiences the peace of God (Philippians 4:7), because he is at peace (Romans 5:1) with the God of peace (Philippians 4:9) through the prince of peace (Isaiah 9:6), who indeed, is our peace (Ephesians 2:14), and who therefore seeks to live at peace with all others (Romans 12:18) and proclaims the gospel of peace (Ephesians 6;15) so that others might have joy and peace in believing (Romans 15:13). If you want to be a peacemaker indeed, you must get ready to pay the price.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Oh Lord, give me the enablement to pay the price of peace-making in my home, church, workplace and in the society.
2. I pray for the grace to be peaceful within me and to be at peace with others.
3. Lord, grant our leaders in C. A. C. sufficient grace to make peace reign in all quarters.
